Have a 3/39K lease w/ Nissan and though I’ve been changing the oil, I’m reluctant to perform the expensive milestone servicing (10K, 20K, etc.). Will they demand proof that they were really done or can I get away with it?

I have leased Maximas for years and NO I did not do the expensive maintenance on the car. I did keep it in perfect condition, wipers and clean engine and kept all records on the oil changes and filters. They looked at the tires but I had already replaced them at 29,000 miles. I did not need a front end alignment, etc. Nissan has the inspection at your location and all they wanted was the car washed and interior cleaned. They did look for dings and some are ok and others you may be charged. Get them fixed before the inspection as I do. I had one little chip I did not see otherwise I would have used the touch up paint on it. They said that the little chip was acceptable. They are looking for unusual wear and tear. Hope I helped you.
i dont think they will ask for proof….
As long as you take it to a Nissan dealer and it’s documented there, you should be ok. Just do what is needed and what they recommend. It’s your job to maintain that car, so get busy. No more excuses.
They will not demand proof; although, if you are looking to trade the car in(at the end of the lease), you may want to have the documentation. It will help with the trade-in value of the car.
Good Luck!!
No, they won’t ask for proof. It has never been an issue for me and I’ve leased about 6 autos. Be sure to keep all fluids changed and checked (don’t forget radiator) to keep it in top condition. You could be responsible for damages caused by neglect.
I highly recommend that you do the maintenance. Keep all receipts and put them with the owners manual. There should be a page near the back that tells you the maintenance schedule. This will provide proof of your commitment to your lease and retain a higher value for your car come trade-in time.
You need to read your contract if you want the true & correct answer for this question.
Hope this helps
Just change the oil, rotate the tires at 10-15,000 miles and you are good. They don’t require you to prove the maintenance but you do have to turn it in in good running condition. So you need to keep it up, but most of the expensive dealer maintenance is to inspect a bunch of stuff and make the dealer money, just change the oil and repair anything that needs to be fixed.
