I had the same problem years ago. I was in about 48000 of credit card debt alone. I chose, however, not to consolidate my debt; instead, I was able to get extra work and pay off one balance, then used the amount I was paying on the paid off card, and added it to the next card, until it snowballed. It took me a few years to do it, but I managed to get out of all that debt and never once resorted to a debt consolidation program.
So, you have two options. Either try to earn some extra money to help pay down some of those credit cards, or two, call your credit card companies and start trying to make payment arrangements.
But, the best thing you can do, and the only thing that made sense from what the previous poster mentioned was, burn the credit cards. I cut mine up. I use cash only now, and only have credit cards for emergencies, but they all have zero balances. Unfortunately, with the way things are going, I may just have to start using them again so that they don’t close all of my accounts.
Good luck!
